Things to do when you are not at the Kalamazoo Rock and Mineral Show

Located less than a half hour away from downtown Kalamazoo and only 15 miles from the Kalamazoo Expo Center is the largest Auto Museum in North America.  190,000 sq. ft. of exhibits show off the collections of the Gilmore Car Museum plus 6 additional Car Museums.

Hours: M-F 9-5, Sat & Sun 9-6; closed on Easter, thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Wednesday Night Cruise-ins (May-Sep) 5-8pm for the collector and the public offers a free time on the Museum grounds but do note the museums close at 5pm.

Car enthusiast are probably well aware of this top destination for car collectors but even after a USA #1 Michigan destination rating, it remains somewhat of a hidden gem for those that are fascinated by, but are not part of, the car collecting community.

It is not all about cars.  In addition to the 400 some vintage vehicles you will also find vintage travel trailers, peddle cars, toys and architectural miniatures.  Cars are housed in restored barns and sometimes in period buildings.

Car collectors will line up in front of the recreated 1930's gas station to take that period photo of themselves with their car.

Another family friendly attraction 30 minutes East of Kalamazoo, Michigan is the Binder Park Zoo. located a short dirve south of I-94 the Bider Park Zoo is a world class zoo that does not over stress the visitor.
